Wall Y+ Calculator for CFD Meshes

Use this calculator to estimate the first-cell height for a CFD boundary-layer mesh. Enter the free-stream speed, characteristic length, kinematic viscosity, and target Y+ value. The calculator estimates the Reynolds number, skin-friction coefficient, wall shear stress, friction velocity, and first-cell height.

Select a target Y+ that matches your turbulence model and wall treatment. Use the result as an initial mesh value, then check the actual Y+ field after the first simulation. Refine the near-wall mesh when the measured values do not meet the target range.
